Who We Are

Yves Gallet

The team leader is Yves Gallet, who is a world-recognized specialist actively working in the field of archeomagnetism and magnetostratigraphy since approximately 20 years. He has a great experience in scientific organization, including successful experience in managing of large research teams and costly projects. He recently crossed the milestone of 50 years, being full of energy and ambitions. Since more than 15 years, Yves Gallet is actively working with Russian scientists. Numerous publications in top-rated journals, presentations at major international conferences are the results of this cooperation.

Yves Gallet’s consent to be a leader of the project is a serious chance to revive the Russian archeomagnetic school, to create a world-class archeomagnetic laboratory, to train new Russian world-class specialists. Thecontribution by Yves Gallet in investigation of the geomagnetic field evolution and his scientific and organizing experience are of paramount importance for the success of the project.

Our Team

The team is a multi-disciplinary group of researchers unified around the Laboratory of the Main Magnetic FieldLaboratory and Petromagnetism at Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth RAS. The team includes experts in archeomagnetism, in various fields of paleomagnetism (magnetostratigraphy, magnetotectonics, paleointensity) and rock magnetism. Among the participants to the project, there are specialists in limnology, climatology, sedimentology, regional geology, geodynamics, geochronology, geophysics, general physics and in instrumentation.
